Draw Pool Update

Oh to be in the sweet sixteen. Tonite Mom and her Fighting Illini tangle with Lucas Doxtater and his UWM Panthers. Aaron Gretebeck and Arizona will try to upset Oklahoma State and Brock Mitbe. The Washington Huskies and their proud owner Brian Quisenberry will try to play the spoilers against the red-hot Louisville Cardinals and Aaron Gretebeck. Ya, and Aaron has Kentucky. Oh to be Mr. Gretebeck. The last game slated for tonite has Jason Langreck and Bobby Knight's Texas Tech Red Raiders (there's a mouthful) trying to cover a measely 1.5 points over Brock and West Virginia.

Tomorrow night's slate includes the North Carolina Tar Heels owned by Steve Merz vs. Villanova (Brian Quisenberry). The battle of the Kevins takes place when the Badgers (Penno) try to make Wisconsin proud by advancing past Solwold and the NC State Wolfpack. Duke owned by Lucas Doxtater takes on the coolest owner of the tournament, me and my Michigan State Spartans. Go Spartans! Finally the Utah Utes, Brian Pluemer and all of his wives will try to tag team Aaron Gretebeck and his Wildcats of Kentucky.

Day one winners

Mom found success with Fairleigh Dickenson as they covered the spread against Illinois. Mom now has Illinois and John Perdue is out.

Kevin Penno advances with Nevada while Brian Quisenberry is out with Texas.

Lucas Doxtater is a first round winner with UWM while coworker Norm Lord and Alabama are sent packing.

Boston College will provide Shane Savin with some round two excitement while Penn bows out early and takes Kevin Solwold with them. Sorry Kev.

UAB is one of three first round winners for Brian along with Pacific and Utah, who made losers of LSU and John Solwold, Sr., Pittsburgh and Mike Fuller and UTEP and Jay Warner, respectively.

Aaron Gretebeck is happy with Arizona crushing Utah St. and eliminating Scott Hendrichowski and with Eastern Kentucky covering against Kentucky. Aaron wrests Kentucky away from Chris Daun.

Steve Merz loses Washington to Brian Quisenberry whose Montana Grizzlies managed to cover 20 points, but still lose.

Jason Langreck stays alive after coach Bob Knight and his Red Raiders of Texas Tech dismantle the UCLA Bruins and Bruce Wolf's chance at greatness.

Mom inherited another team as the mighty Winthrop hangs on to cover 13.5 against Gonzaga. Mom is now the proud owner of the Zags and Lucas Doxtater has none.

Brock and the West Virginia Mountaineers manage to cover by one half point on a dunk with two seconds left in what turned out to be the most exciting game of the day while Creighton and Gareth Trinko let one slip away.

Doug Clague rode the Chattanooga express to steal Wake Forest from Shane Savin. Good luck with the Deamon Decons, Doug.

Gareth Trinko moved into the field of 32 when Oklahoma smoked Niagara and blew any chance Mike Fuller had of advancing up in smoke.

Doug Clague pushed his second team, Cincinnati, into the second round with a victory over Brian Quisenberry and the Hawkeyes of Iowa.

I introduce to you 2008 President Elect Ms. ....

Let me be among the first to predict that the next president will be the first female president in our country's history. I believe the country is ready to elect a female, however it won't be Hillary. It will be Condi Rice. She will spend the next 2+ years making history in the Middle East by implementing the current president's foreign policy. With success already in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine their is no reason to beleive that peace and democracy cannot be acheived elsewhere in the Middle East. Condi will be the central figure in this process.

As is the case with most two term president's the next Republican nominee will ride Bush's coattails through the primaries. I believe that Condi will be groomed by Bush over the next four years and will have his backing. The liberal media will try their best to link her to scandals such as Abu Graib to slow her down, but I don't think it will work.

Here's to Condi in '08! She'll have my vote.
